Exchange & Refund Policy
Ukhu Afrika (Pty) Ltd

Ukhu Afrika aims to provide high-quality athletic apparel, cycling gear, coffee products, and lifestyle merchandise. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, we will assist with an exchange or return in accordance with South African consumer law.
This policy applies to purchases made through the Ukhu Afrika online store (https://shop.ukhu.co.za) and at our physical store.

2. Exchange Policy
Ukhu Afrika offers exchanges for apparel and merchandise purchased from our store or website.
Items may be exchanged if:
- the item is returned within 14 days of purchase
- the item is unused and unworn
- the item is in original packaging
- tags and labels remain attached
- proof of purchase is provided
Exchanges may only be processed for:
- a different size
- a different colour
- another product of equal value
If the exchanged item is of greater value, the price difference will need to be paid.
The customer will be responsible for the cost of returning the order. To request an exchange please login to your User Profile.
3. Returns for Refund
Refunds may be issued under the following conditions:
Online Purchases (ECTA Cooling-Off Period)
Under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, customers may cancel an online purchase within 7 days of receiving the goods without giving a reason.
Conditions:
- items must be returned unused and in original condition
- return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer
- the refund will be processed once the goods are received and inspected
Refunds will be issued within 30 days of cancellation as required by law.
4. Defective or Faulty Products
Under the Consumer Protection Act, all goods carry an implied warranty of quality.
If a product is defective, unsafe, or fails to meet reasonable expectations:
- it may be returned within 6 months of purchase
- the customer may choose between:
- a repair
- a replacement
- a refund
Ukhu Afrika will cover the cost of returning defective items. To request a return please login to your User Profile.
5. Non-Returnable Items
For hygiene and safety reasons, the following items may not be returned or exchanged unless defective:
- opened food products or coffee beans
- beverages
- used cycling apparel
- worn base layers or socks
- items that have been washed
- customised or personalised products
- gift cards
Ukhu Afrika reserves the right to refuse returns that do not meet the above conditions.
6. Condition of Returned Items
Returned items must:
- be unused
- be in original packaging
- include all labels and tags
- be free from damage or alteration
Ukhu Afrika may reject returns that show signs of use beyond reasonable inspection.
7. How to Return an Item
To initiate a return or exchange please make use of the self-service return request system by logging into your User Profile.
1. Please provide:
- order number
- reason for return
- photos of the item
2. Once approved, return the product to:

Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the item is defective or incorrect.
8. Refund Method
Refunds will be processed using the original payment method where possible. If this is not possible, Ukhu Afrika may issue:
- a bank transfer
- store credit
Refunds may take 5–10 business days to reflect depending on your bank.
9. Incorrect Orders
If you receive an incorrect item:
- notify us within 7 days
- we will arrange collection and replacement at our cost
10. Returns from In-Store Purchases
Returns for items purchased in-store are handled in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act.
Please Note:
- customers do not automatically have the right to return goods simply because they changed their mind
- exchanges may be offered at Ukhu Afrika’s discretion if the item meets the exchange criteria above
11. Abuse of Returns Policy
Ukhu Afrika reserves the right to refuse returns where there is evidence of misuse or abuse of the returns policy.
